The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is a five-day electronic music conference and festival held annually in mid-October. The event is organized by The Amsterdam Dance Event Foundation and offers a full program of daytime conferences at ADE Pro, ADE Tech, HDE, ADE University, ADE Next, ADE Beamlab and ADE Green, alongside the nighttime ADE Festival which features 450 events and 2,200 artists over five days in 115 clubs and venues. The shows attract over 350,000 people from all over the world to the city, making Amsterdam one of the busiest clubbing cities in the world.
NEW IP was carried out between 2011 and 2013 by the community-based NGOs and the institutions involved in the BASICS Network and the DC&D Safer Nightlife Platform, the Nightlife Empowerment & Well-being Implementation Project (NEWIP) proposed specific responses to the new challenges in the fields of harm reduction and health promotion, using recreational settings as initial outreach locations.
During the NEW IP project intervention guidelines for international peers working together and good practice standards for peer education in nightlife settings were establish. It was a big help before preparing BOOM intervention for PINS project and will also be very useful for the future projects and interventions.
